Elle's Studio Blog Hop Winner!

I plugged the numbers into random.org, and it gave me #11.

That would be Erin, who wrote:

Congratulations, Erin! Please email me using the "email" button on the left side of the blog.

Thanks everyone! Have a great weekend! Here in Los Angeles, we are suffering the second Carmageddon. A great excuse to stay home and get crafty.

Today we are celebrating the release of Elle's Studio's two new lines for Autumn and Christmas: Spooky Tales and Be Merry ! They are hitting the stores this week and you can also get them at their website now!

The Spooky Tales line works great for Autumn/Fall AND Halloween! And, the Be Merry  line is perfect for Christmas layouts, cards, and would work great for your December Daily! And, as a bonus, with both lines they've also worked in tons of tags that are perfect for Project life!

I've been an Elle's Studio fan for a long time, and my favorite Christmas item every year is any item that has numbers! Yes, I am a fan of using numbers in layouts. Check out this year's! So good, right?

I'm also a sucker for anything Halloween and/or Thanksgiving. They are actually my two favorite holidays. My fave Elle's Studio products in this line? The pennants. I think they add just the right amount of fun and whimsy to any project.

I used both in this layout (just a peek today) about the Halloween costumes I make for my children every year. This layout came together quickly because with Elle's Studio's products, you don't have to hunt down all the perfect embellishments. They ARE the embellishments. Totally simple and awesome. The October gallery will debut on October 1st .

Yes, that's a googly eye you see.

Now the best part! I get to giveaway two of my favorite items from the new release to one lucky winner! Leave a comment to be entered to win my faves: the Be Merry Numbers and the Spooky Tales Spooky Pennants. I'll draw one winner on Saturday, September 29th, so make sure you check back to see if you've won!

And, don't forget to keep going! There are different prizes and winners at every stop in the hop - you have 13 more chances to WIN:

Creating Keepsakes Giveaway

Happy Monday! I'm just back from a long vacation to the East Coast. Two weeks away is amazing, but now I'm on major catchup mode. School supplies to buy, house to clean and organize, kids to get back into a "normal" sleep schedule, projects to create. That said, there's nothing like a new issue of Creating Keepsakes arriving in my mailbox. It means it's time to stop what I'm doing and flip through it! This is one of my favorites. It's the annual Top Ten issue. So full of ideas, tips, and inspiration.

I have a layout in there with ten different ways to add stitching/thread to your layout. You can see all ten here.

I also love this cover. So Fall, which by the way, I'm totally ready to embrace. Problem is that here in Los Angeles, Fall is the hottest time of the year. I might need another visit back East to wear my sweaters and boots...

This issue is available starting today. But you can win one by leaving me a comment telling me which is your favorite season. I'll randomly pick a winner and post it on Friday, August 17.

Thanks for dropping by today!

Living The Dream Workshop Giveaway

Hey there! Hope you had a good weekend. Today, the Creating Keepsakes Dream Team is doing a blog hop/giveaway for our class Living The Dream (in partnership with Big Picture Classes).

What's the class about? Here's a description from Big Picture Classes:

Are you living the dream? Whether it's landing that job you always wanted, accomplishing a goal you set for yourself, or having the family you hoped for, so much of the lives we lead today began as things we only dreamed of yesterday. Your dreams are important. Spending time remembering the dreams you had when you were younger and recognizing how those dreams have been fulfilled (in the way you thought they would be, and in totally different ways than you dreamed) will inspire you, and hopefully inspire others as well. We hope that you'll join us in this 20-day workshop to connect with these talented instructors as well as enjoy the opportunity to not just count, but scrap your blessings.

Here's a teensy peek of my project (hint, it's about motherhood):

Now, for the giveaway! Please leave me a comment (and your email addy so I can contact you) by next Monday, June 4, and I'll draw a winner for a spot in this class. To increase your chances, visit each blog in the hop, and leave one comment per blog. But alas, only one free pass per person.

Your next blog stops are:
Maggie Holmes
Mou Saha

Thank you so much for dropping by!

March/April CK Giveaway

WINNER!
Congrats, Val! I've sent you an email. :)

Happy Monday! And Happy (almost) Spring!

The Creating Keepsakes March/April issue is out, and I have a copy to giveaway!

Here's one of my projects in this issue. (Click on it to get a bigger peek.)
As seen in the March/April 2012 issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine. Copyright Creative Crafts Group. Posted with prior permission from the publisher.
I'm not usually a mini-album person, but every so often I create one, and I always love the end result. Which makes me wonder why I'm not a mini-album person? This one celebrates each person in my family as a baby. It lists each of our birthdays, and something in history that happened that day. Plus the birthdays of someone else famous. The fun thing for me was to see our baby photos side-by-side, and seeing how much my kids look like me. My husband always says they are copies of me. Ha! So true.

Onto the giveaway!

Please leave me a comment here before Friday, March 23 (midnight EDT), and I'll randomly pick one person to win this super cute issue! Please leave me your email address, so I can contact you if you are the winner.

Here are more chances to win! Check out these other blogs:

Creative Spaces Giveaway

ETA: Blogger was down for about a day and a half, and it lost some of the comments. Sorry! They are promising to restore them all, but I don't want anyone to not get a chance to win this special issue. So I'm going to leave the comments open until Sunday night (May 15). I'll be back then to post a winner. Thanks!

Confession time. I'm a peeper. I like to peep into other people's houses, their closets, their makeup bags, and most definitely, their scrap spaces! No wonder my favorite blogs are The Selby, Apartment Therapy, and Into The Gloss. (But don't worry, I won't sneak a peek of your medicine cabinet while I'm visiting. I'm not that bad!)

So, yes, I jumped for joy when Megan Hoeppner told me she was editing a special Creating Keepsakes issue about scrap rooms! But honestly, I had no idea what the issue was going to be like until I got my very own copy this past weekend. It's FAB! Page after page of great rooms and great solutions. No, not every room is the bespoke, out of reach for most of us, kind of rooms. Most spaces are the kind we all have. A room in the house, a corner of the dining room, a teeny closet. I love seeing how others store their stuff. Because let's be honest, we, scrapbookers, have a LOT of stuff.

This issue of Creative Spaces will be up for sale tomorrow, and I have a discount code for you: SPACESBB It’s good for free shipping in the US, expires 5/27/11. You can order it here.

Take a peek inside this issue by clicking here.

Come on, fess up! You are as much of a peeper as I am! So you'll need this issue.

That's a peek of my  room, and I share how to  make the framed typographic art.
Leave me a comment by Thursday, May 12, (9PDT) and I'll randomly pick a winner! I'll post the winner on Friday morning, so please check back!

Tips & Tricks Winner!

Yo yo yo! Happy Monday. We had a pretty uneventful weekend, in which I slept every opportunity that came my way. I had to break my napping schedule to take #3 kid to a Chuck E Cheese party on Saturday morning (have I mentioned how much I dislike that place? Germs!), cook meals, watch the Super Bowl, and take showers. I'm sure you are glad I took showers. Strangers in the grocery store were happy too.

Yes, the winner! Random.org picked #10. Which happens to be Melanie. And yes, we are shipping to Canada. And you can lift my layouts anytime of the week. Twice on Sundays.

Thanks for playing along everyone! I'm sure there will be more giveaways soon. And I might even scrap a page or two for fun this week (and share, of course.) Yes, I said FOR FUN! Miracles do exist.

CK Tips & Tricks Giveaway

The Texture issue. It was waiting for me when I got home from CHA. Love it! I'm not huge on putting lots of stuff on my layouts, but I do love me some texture. Let's check out a page, shall we?

Oh lookie here. That is my page. And I love that page. That Stampin' Up Waffle paper is really interesting. It has a shiny side, and a dullish side. I used the dullish side (great midtone grey.) I folded it into a pleated ribbon (thanks Cindy for the idea!), and held it together with clear tape in the back. Then I machine sewed it on. Super fast for a nice subtle texture.

The good part: the kind folks at Creating Keepsakes are letting me give away one issue. So please leave me a comment, and I'll pick a winner this Monday, February 7. Meanwhile, you can go here to check out more pages. And here, if you must have your own issue now! By the way, you can use coupon code: TEXTDT for free shipping on orders of $25 or more and it expires on 3/31/11.

Winner (and trip update)

Sorry for the lateness in picking a winner of CK's The Organized and Inspired Scrapbooker. I've been on the road. Driving from Philadelphia to Los Angeles. We broke the 2000 mile mark today. Phew. My butt is sore! Ha! No jokes about that, please. We have stopped for the day in Arizona. Our goal is to get to LA tomorrow. We will see...

So. Winner! Random.org says:

And that would be JennO. You've finally won something from my blog!

What else is going on... starting tomorrow, I'll be posting more sneak peeks on the Lily Bee blog. Then starting Saturday, I'll be posting from CHA, and there will be giveaways (on the Lily Bee blog also). You can check it all out here.

Meanwhile, a peek from my day.

Barbecue at Rudy's, which is pretty dang good Texas style barbecue. Sorry, Memphis style, Kansas City style, etc style lovers. This is the real thing. Not to worry, the sauce was not forgotten. You just get to sauce it yourself. With heavenly spicy, slightly sour, never sweet sauce.

I'll share some more photos from trip soon. We took a lot of high speed photos. No, not photos using a high ISO. But photos taken while the car was going fast. In case you are wondering, the driver never took any photos. It's been a long, tiring trip. But also very fun. Alrighty. Off to relax a little.

The Organized and Inspired Scrapbooker

You thought I was talking about myself, didn't you? Ha! I wish. Well, I am somewhat organized. And sometimes I'm even inspired, but we are talking about a book here. A very nice book by Wendy Smedley and Aby Garvey. Wendy is a friend, and an incredibly creative one. Aby is a professional organizer. I dream of hiring her.

Yes, I know you want to take a peek inside. Go here for a look-see.

And if you'd rather buy it right now (because it's that good), get your copy here. (With a coupon code, of course: DS25DT, good for free shipping on orders of $25 or more, expires 2/11/11.)

The CK blog and Club CK are both having Organization Week with lots of tips, and photos of scrappy spaces. And I'm sure you love looking at scrappy spaces as much as I do!

And now the fun part. I have one copy of The Organized & Inspired Scrapbooker to give away. If you'll be so kind to leave me a comment here, I'll pick a lucky winner next Monday, January 24. Good luck!

One Winner + One Layout

Good morning and happy weekend! We are all sick here, but luckily, my husband is home and NOT sick. Little miracles do happen. So glad someone is here to take care of us. Alas, sick or not, we have to get out of the house to allow for showings and open house. I foresee lots of mall time during this weekend. I'm sure the kids will love that. (In case you don't know me well, I'm a bit of a sarcastic person.)

Anyway, first, our winner of CK's two special issues.
And that would be

Arjanne said...
The every day issue looks really inspiring! Thanks for the chance!
December 8, 2010 12:33 PM

Arjanne, drop me an email using the button on the left sidebar. Congrats! I think you are going to love both issues.

I just got the January CK. So totally exciting. My first issue as part of the Dream Team. I've got this layout in it:
As seen in the January issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine. Copyright Creative Crafts Group. Posted with prior permission from the publisher.
I was supposed to create a layout a la Stacy Cohen, and I don't think I accomplished it all too well. Stacy is one of a kind. Her layouts are amazing and intricate. If you don't know Stacy's work, you need to check it out.

Alrighty. I'm off to clean up the house (for the millionth time this month), and go to the mall. How very suburban of me.

Yes, another giveaway!

I was looking back at the few posts I've written since I started this blog, and realized that I have a large number of giveaways, and a very small number of layouts shared. Not sure what that means. I should scrap more? And share? Hee hee.

But anyway.

Creating Keepsakes is giving away two of their current special issues to one of you! I have read them both, and found them to be filled with great ideas, information galore, and just nice eye candy.

Scrapbooking Everyday Memories. Love that sweet cover. You can get a sneak peek of this issue here.
Scrapbooking Tips & Tricks: Stamps & Ink. I have so many stamps, but I'm not that good about using them. This issue will give you a ton of ideas of what to do with stamps, inks, etc. Take an inside peek here.

Please leave me a comment, and I'll pick one lucky person this Saturday morning. Please do check back to see if you are one of the winners!

Meanwhile, I have a discount code for you to treat yourself (or a friend) to a little something from the CK store: CKDT15 (this is good for 15% off all items in the store, expires 12/20/2010). Nothing like an early holiday gift to oneself. Trust me. I know this from experience.

Winners. Yo!

Good Morning! Thank you all for your sweet comments. It's interesting how many of us dislike stainless steel appliances! You'd think that manufacturers could come out with stainless steel that repels fingerprints by now. One can dream.. or buy white appliances and save lots of money!

Onto the goody boxes! I used random.org and we have two winners!

Rhonda V. December 4, 2010 10:34 PM
First of all, I agree with you wholeheartedly on the stainless steel appliances! What a great idea - pre-kids. ack!
Best of wishes in your home selling, your changes will really help!
Would love a box full of scrap goodies, what fun!!!
mcscraps5November 30, 2010 5:17 PM
Wow! I liked the red color on the walls, too.
Thanks for the chance to win. Good luck on the house selling!

Winners, please email me using the button on the left column within the next week. I would like to send out your boxes before Christmas!

And if you didn't win, don't despair. I'll have more boxes. Meanwhile, I'll have another giveaway tomorrow. Two special Creating Keepsakes issues that I think you'll enjoy. A lot!

Cyber Tuesday Giveaway

The house officially went on the market yesterday. Phew. Got the house ready in one and a half weeks. I think that's pretty dang good. (Don't look too closely around the basement, though.)

Some photos from the past week-ish.

One of things about staging a house that bums me out is doing away with personal choices. Apparently Ralph Lauren's Hunting Coat Red is a bit much for some people. So, goodbye red. Hello beige, er, I mean Navajo White.
A quick visit to biggest's Science class. Experimenting with pH. Nothing melted + nothing exploded = a good day.
There used to be a very ugly medicine cabinet in that hole. And a very ugly light fixture above it. In a very ugly yellow bathroom. That's all gone now.
We also made some time to goof off and eat at Cheeburger Cheeburger. Funny that we missed In-N-Out so much when we moved here. And now, we'll miss Cheeburger.
Making Michael Ruhlman's lemon bars. When I read that post the very first time, Ruhlman mentioned that his fourth grader could make the dessert, so I put my then fourth grader to the test. And yes, they were that easy. This time around, my pro-lemon-bar-making-chef sixth grader mentored his fourth grader brother. The lemon bars were amazing. Make some today!
And lastly, GIVEAWAY! The scoopage: several very kind and generous manufacturers sent the CK Dream Team huge amounts of scrapbook goodies. It's been like Christmas every other day. Alas, I'm only one person and I can't use it all (plus I'm afraid a potential house buyer will open my craft closet and think I have a serious shopping addiction, which I may or may not have, but I'm not going to talk about it today.) So I'm sharing my bounty with you! I've filled two USPS Priority boxes with stuff. Tons of stuff. They are packed to the very top. It's totally random, so please forgive me. I should have taken photos of the content, but uh, I didn't think about that until they were filled, and then I was too lazy to take it all out. But as you can kinda see, there are: mists, Thickers, adhesives, tons of patterned papers, bling-y things, stickers, chipboard, the works. New stuff. You are going to like this.

I have two boxes for two lucky people. You have until next Tuesday, December 7 to leave me a comment. Sorry, dear friends living in other countries, these are heavy suckers, so I can't send them abroad. Please check back on Wednesday to see if you are a winner.

With that said, I gotta go polish my appliances. I'll never buy stainless steel stuff again.

Winners of Ella books

Hello hello! I meant to do this earlier in the day, but uh, I forgot. Sorry!

Let's not dwell on my mistakes. Moving on to the winners...

I had help picking the winners from my little imp. He folded the little pieces of paper, and picked the names. Good, helpful imp.

Oh, his wrist looks gigantic from this angle. Kinda creepy.

Giveaway! Giveaway!

I was imagining me, kinda like Paul Revere, riding through town yelling "GIVEAWAY! GIVEAWAY!"

Yeah. Bad mental image. Sorry.

So, onto the goods!

Ella's Essential Guide to Scrapbooking Boys. What a choice book. I wrote a bit about it here, and have some free downloads that I used for my layouts here.

And then, the equally awesome Journaling That Matters book.
What makes these books so great? My work is in them, of course!

OK. Fine. Just kidding. What makes them great are the incredible layouts/ideas/tips inside each book. Stumped for what to write on your layout? Flip (in an e-flip sort of way) through the Journaling book, and you'll be de-stumped. Out of ideas on how to scrapbook manly pages? Check out the Boy book, and you'll find one that fits your needs. Pretty cool, eh?

I have TWO (yes, 2) copies of the Journaling book, and TWO (2 again) copy of the Boy book to give away. Please leave me a comment saying which book you'd rather have (or if you don't care because you just want a book, ANY book), and I'll pick four winners on Friday. Because that's a good way to end the week. Good luck!

(And as usual, please check back to see if you are the winner. Blogger does not allow me to see your email address.)
(Oh, and that would be me and my biggest on the cover of the Journaling book. Now that's hot!)

eta: I'll pick a winner Friday night, and post it Saturday.

I've closed the comments now (5:37PM ET). I'm running around like crazy today, but I'll be back in a few hours to pick a winner!

Mosh Posh October And A Winner!

Ayi. I feel like October is rushing past me. And I haven't even figured out what costumes to make my kids. Must not wait til the week before. I'm a major procrastinator.

Moving on to more pleasant chat. Mosh Posh layouts!

This one was really simple to put together. I printed all the photos and the journaling on matte photo paper, then adhered the patterned paper and letter stickers, and proceed to sew around the photos. In a moment of late night lunacy, I added french knots to the little flowers.
And once I started handstitching, I wanted to do so in every page. Alas, I ran out time, because I had to clean the house before my parents arrived. (Please note the impish boy with his old hairdo.)
The holes on the corners of this layout were punched with the Fiskars In Stitches edge punch. I so love that thing.
This is the layout I wanted to handstitch on, but ran out of time! Maybe stars randomly placed. I might go back and do that. The stars were cut with PaperTreyInk's die shapes. My first die purchase from them, and it did not disappoint. (They were also embossed with a Quickutz die.)

Onto the good stuff. We have a winner!

And #11 is Lorena.

Lorena said...Ooohh, such a fan of Jennifer McGuire too! And the rain has finally stopped here too, I thought for sure it would have been 40 days and 40 nights soon! I do hope randomness comes my direction!

Lorena, randomness did come your way! Yeah! Congrats. Email me your info by using the email button to the left, and I'll get that issue shipped to you.

Now off to figure out costumes.

Linda out.

Cupcakes and A Winner!

It's the middlest's tenth birthday. And I just finished icing the cupcakes to take to his school. Yes, half of the school day is over. Ayi.

But I think these turned out cute. Simple and cute. And a bit preppy.

And we have a winner of Ella's Essential Guide to Scrapbooking Girls: Kataroo who wrote:

GIRLS??? GIRLS!!! I have two little girls and I LOVE ALL THINGS GIRLY :) Would LOVE to get a lookie at this ebook :)

And you do get to have a lookie! Yeah! Please email me at milesofpaper[at]gmail[dot]com.

Now, I have to run and deliver these sugar bombs before school is out! Have a great day (we'll be celebrating with sushi later)!
