Cyber Tuesday Giveaway

The house officially went on the market yesterday. Phew. Got the house ready in one and a half weeks. I think that's pretty dang good. (Don't look too closely around the basement, though.)

Some photos from the past week-ish.

One of things about staging a house that bums me out is doing away with personal choices. Apparently Ralph Lauren's Hunting Coat Red is a bit much for some people. So, goodbye red. Hello beige, er, I mean Navajo White.
A quick visit to biggest's Science class. Experimenting with pH. Nothing melted + nothing exploded = a good day.
There used to be a very ugly medicine cabinet in that hole. And a very ugly light fixture above it. In a very ugly yellow bathroom. That's all gone now.
We also made some time to goof off and eat at Cheeburger Cheeburger. Funny that we missed In-N-Out so much when we moved here. And now, we'll miss Cheeburger.
Making Michael Ruhlman's lemon bars. When I read that post the very first time, Ruhlman mentioned that his fourth grader could make the dessert, so I put my then fourth grader to the test. And yes, they were that easy. This time around, my pro-lemon-bar-making-chef sixth grader mentored his fourth grader brother. The lemon bars were amazing. Make some today!
And lastly, GIVEAWAY! The scoopage: several very kind and generous manufacturers sent the CK Dream Team huge amounts of scrapbook goodies. It's been like Christmas every other day. Alas, I'm only one person and I can't use it all (plus I'm afraid a potential house buyer will open my craft closet and think I have a serious shopping addiction, which I may or may not have, but I'm not going to talk about it today.) So I'm sharing my bounty with you! I've filled two USPS Priority boxes with stuff. Tons of stuff. They are packed to the very top. It's totally random, so please forgive me. I should have taken photos of the content, but uh, I didn't think about that until they were filled, and then I was too lazy to take it all out. But as you can kinda see, there are: mists, Thickers, adhesives, tons of patterned papers, bling-y things, stickers, chipboard, the works. New stuff. You are going to like this.

I have two boxes for two lucky people. You have until next Tuesday, December 7 to leave me a comment. Sorry, dear friends living in other countries, these are heavy suckers, so I can't send them abroad. Please check back on Wednesday to see if you are a winner.

With that said, I gotta go polish my appliances. I'll never buy stainless steel stuff again.

That red paint color was awesome. Its like a perfect red. I have to remember it in case I want to paint a room that color one day!

Congrats on making the CK Dream Team!! I can't wait to see more of your work in upcoming magazines! :) That would be like a dream-come-true to me. All the scrappy stuff I can handle, plus some....ahhh.... :)
Hope you have a great week!

Best wishes on surviving the house showings! Thanks for the chance to share in your goodies!

Barb November 30, 2010 at 8:48 AM

This friend from another country doesn't need any more scrap stuff, but she does wish to leave a couple of comments:

1. I miss your red walls already.
2. I am going to see if my lemon-loving third grade kid can make these squares. Yum!

Fingers crossed for a quick sale of your cute little home! :)

Tracy J November 30, 2010 at 9:36 AM

Thanks for the chance to win! Good luck on selling the house. I made the same mistake with stainless appliances. Can't believe I wanted them bad enough to pay EXTRA! Why didn't someone tell me? Live and learn!

taniawillis November 30, 2010 at 12:32 PM

mist? thickers? ummmmmmm, yes, please! :) (the red walls are my fav!)

Laura T. November 30, 2010 at 1:09 PM

Wow -- good for you for getting your house ready to put on the market is such a short period of time. We want to eventually put ours on the market too, but we have LOTS to do before that happens. Good luck selling your house. And, Congrats on making it on the design team!

candy November 30, 2010 at 1:48 PM

Wooooo hooooo! I am SO proud of you, my friend! SO proud for getting the house ready in record time (seriously!!) and that you made the CK team. You are awesomeness, but then again, I've always known that about you! :)

Ella Swan November 30, 2010 at 2:23 PM

Ooh who doesn't like a good giveaway! I have a US mailing address even though I live abroad so I would make provs to post on to me & you would only need to post to Texas. Yee haw! My dining-room wall is a beautiful strong red - which leads me to believe we may have similar taste in scrappy supplies - which leads me to believe that entering your giveaway is a grand idea! Oh, and yeah, stainless steel sucks...I ain't ever buying it again either!!

Jody November 30, 2010 at 4:12 PM

Here are my 2 comments/questions:
1)Where are you moving to?
2)ITA about the stainless steel, never again!
Hope your move goes smoothly :)

Aparna November 30, 2010 at 5:31 PM

I just went through the pain of covering my beautiful peacock blue accent wall beige too---so I understand! I loved the red--sorry you had to let it go. Thanks for the grab bag giveaway!

Unknown November 30, 2010 at 8:35 PM

What??? You're not keeping the mist?? I don't understand... ;p
Staging huh? Does that mean you're going to be living with borrowed furniture until you move out? How does that work exactly...
I have lots of questions, I guess we need to talk, although I don't have an entire day to devote, lol.. ;)
Going to try those bars tomorrow, I'm on a baking kick and they're my fave. Yum!
Will call soon, promise... xoxoxo

(ps-LOL,my word verification is POOLOOT. Sounds like something Noah would make up...)

Princess Jessie Pants November 30, 2010 at 9:44 PM

I liked the red too - sad. :) Andrea T. told me about your blog - I'm her bff, Jessie. Thanks for the chance to win & congratulations on the CK Dream Team - that's awesome!!

Lauren Cheong November 30, 2010 at 10:48 PM

Hi Ms. Linda! Just saw this for the first time. VERY cool! And, just 1 1/2 weeks to get a house ready for sale is spectacular! I took about 6 weeks just to get ready to throw a baby shower last month!

(Please don't put me in the drawing - alas, I wouldn't know what to do with half of your wonderful goodies.)

I hope you're well. Much love and hugs!

-Lauren

PS: I have red French doors which would just be painful to paint out!

Jingle December 1, 2010 at 5:33 AM

Oh, that red was gorgeous!!! So sad to have to cover it up! I hope you are able to sell quickly! Thank you for the generous giveaway!

Diana Fisher December 1, 2010 at 5:41 AM

So generous of you to do this giveaway! Oh and lemon bars sound great... thanks for the idea! :)

Bren December 1, 2010 at 6:26 AM

What a sweetheart you are to share your bounty with 2 lucky ladies! It's like a pay it forward. If I am lucky enough to receive one of the boxes, I will certainly share the contents with a few of my scrapping friends locally. Thanks for the opportunity to 'enter' your giveaway.

My husband and I have been looking at houses and, although I loved your red, nothing says "clean, fresh, and almost new" like neutral walls. So repainting was probably a good idea. Dh wants stainless steel appliances; can I quote you in my fight against stainless steel?!?

Erin December 1, 2010 at 6:44 AM

I too am a big fan of red walls and can't quite understand why everyone doesn't love them. Hmmm. Congrats on the Dream Team. It's very sweet of you to share your goodies.

dazey December 1, 2010 at 8:39 AM

I'm so glad we last bought/sold houses before the staging craze. One thing we loved about this house was the red den -- eventually we changed it, but it was a big part of the charm.

Thanks for the chance to win!

Congrats on making the Dream Team. Thanks for sharing your goodies!!!

Gabby319 December 2, 2010 at 11:28 PM

I loved the red in the dining room . I hate the way realtors are so narrow minded. I mean when someone looks at a house they don't necessarily need to just see the decore. They are supposed to be looking at more important issues aboput the house any way. Oh, by the way, great giveaway. Very nice of you to do that--thanks so much.

Amanda L. December 3, 2010 at 3:48 AM

Good luck with the house selling.....and thanks for the chance to win some goodies!!

Best of luck with everything! I hear you on the stainless thing ~ yuck. Thanks for the chance to win!

Janna December 5, 2010 at 1:24 PM

I liked the red better than the Navajo white. A few years ago, my husband and I were shopping for a house, and we fell in love with a house we called "The Red Dining Room House". We decided to make an offer the next day, only to learn that someone else beat us to it and bought it. So we did the next best thing...we bought another and painted the dining room red. At least you are moving and you can paint your new dining room red too.

Thanks for the chance to win.

Rusthawk December 5, 2010 at 10:29 PM
